Linux Command Line

Online NCC Austria Linux

An online course for beginner users of the Linux command line for High-Performance Computing (HPC) will be organized by Austrian Scientific Computing (ASC) on 3 November 2026.

Knowing basic Linux command-line commands is essential for navigating files, launching and monitoring jobs, managing powerful computational resources, and efficiently automating complex workflows - and that’s exactly what this course provides.

This course is designed for new ASC users who may not have used the Linux command line before. Participants will learn how to log in to ASC systems and work in the Linux command line. Through step-by-step instruction, they will cover basic skills to help organize their workflows on the cluster. The course emphasizes hands-on learning, giving participants the chance to try out new skills right away and adapt them to their needs.

After completing this course, participants can continue with Introduction to Working on the ASC Clusters to learn how to use the ASC supercomputers—and especially their queuing system—efficiently.
